Alice Hall Passed Away at age 82
                     Alice Hall Scott (Mrs. Jake), 82, of Reserve, NM, passed away
                     unexpectedly Saturday, December 4, 1999 at her home. Cremation
                     has taken place under the direction of Bright Funeral Home.
                     Memorial services will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December
                     7, 1999 in the Reserve High School Gym, Reverend Ben Whitfield
                     officiating. Her cremains will be spread over her beloved Frisco
                     Valley by her family at a later date. Mrs. Scott was born May 4,
                     1917 in Kelly, New Mexico. She was the daughter of Hezekiah
                     Hall, who was the Postmaster for many years, and Mary Exter Hall.
                     She was married to Jacob Clifton"Jake" Scott in Silver City, he
                     preceded her in death. Mrs. Scott is survived by her children, Shirley
                     Scott Downey and her husband, Don of Albuquerque, Jackie Fryar
                     and her husband, Danny of Reserve, Terri Scott of Silver City,
                     Hanson Scott and his wife, Laraine of Albuquerque; grandchildren,
                     Craig and Randy Scott of Albuquerque, Colby Fryar and his wife,
                     Rachel of Tucson, Brandon Fryar and his wife, Ina of Moriarty, Eric
                     Fryar and his wife, Carmelita of Colorado Springs, T.J. Fryar, a
                     cadet at the United States Air Force Academy, Shawmaree Motes
                     and her husband, Tim of Silver City, Dee Cee Spurgeon, William
                     Spurgeon, Cassidy Holliday, Dylan Holliday and Cody Holliday, all
                     of Silver City; and one great-grandchild, Britanie Fryar of Moriarty;
                     one nephew, Bobby Hall of Albuquerque; and one niece, Linda
                     Wolfe of Las Cruces; and one great-niece, Shelly Flores of Las
                     Cruces; one sister-in-law, May Hall of Albuquerque. She was
                     preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Nathan
                     Hall; and one grandson, Aaron Fryar. Mrs. Scott grew up on the
                     family ranch at Water Canyon. She attended elementary and high in
                     Magdalena, graduating in 1933. Following graduation from high
                     school, she worked for the Department of Public Welfare in Datil
                     and Reserve. Following their marriage, they lived in Reserve briefly
                     while Jake worked for his father in the family grocery store. Later,
                     they moved to Datil, NM and then later to Jal, NM, where Jake
                     worked for the New Mexico Port of Entry. Next, Jake and Alice
                     moved to Morenci, AZ in 1946, Jake and Alice brought their family
                     to Reserve, where they began operating Jake's General
                     Merchandise, a business that continues in the family today. Jake
                     passed away in 1977, and Alice continued to manage the family
                     grocery store until she was 80 years old. Alice continued to visit the
                     store every day so that she could see her customers and friends on a
                     daily basis. Mrs. Scott was an avid supporter of community events,
                     and was particularly involved in supporting local high school sports
                     activities. She could always be found at the Reserve High basketball
                     games. In her later years, her life was enhanced by her grandchildren
                     and particularly her great-granddaughter, Britanie Fryar. Honorary
                     bearers will be Gregg Baca, Clay Snyder, Lem Fryar, Glen
                     McCarty, Chuck Dinwiddie, Byron Spurgeon, Ray Estrada, Auggie
                     Shellhorn, Shawn Menges and Sidney Jones Jr. Bright Funeral
                     Home in charge of arrangements.
