William Wallace Schnepple and Zoe Exter
 William was born November 13, 1913 in Espanola, New Mexico.  His parents were William Charles Schnepple and Ema Bandelier Schnepple.  His father was a Rough Rider with Teddy Roosevelt and his mother’s uncle was Adolph Bandelier, the famous archeologist.  Zoe was born November 21, l914 in Monticello, New Mexico.  Her parents were Simeon Exter and Maud Palmer Exter.  Her father was Manager of Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Company in Magdalena, New Mexico.  Her mother taught in the Magdalena schools. 

 Since Santa Fe was a small town, Zoe and William were aware of each other during elementary school.  William’s parents had moved to Santa Fe and his father was head bookkeeper for Kaune’s Grocery Store, owned by his brother-in-law.  After her mother’s death, Zoe was being raised by her grandmother, Lucy Palmer, who owned a rooming house in Santa Fe. 

 William and Zoe started dating when he was a senior and she was a sophomore in Santa Fe High School.  He attended the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.  Upon graduation, Zoe worked for the New Mexico Emergency Relief Administration.  After college, William returned to Santa Fe and they were married September 11, 1936.  The newspaper account reported that “two very prominent families of Santa Fe were uniting”.  Zoe’s grandfather was a surgeon for the AT&SF Railroad and her grandmother was well-known in Santa Fe. 

 William Charles was born June 24, 1939.  William got a job with Vega Aircraft Corporation (later became Lockheed Aircraft) and they moved to Burbank, California in April 1941.  William worked for Lockheed for 34 years.  Jerrilyn was born September 16, 1943, Stephen Bart was born February 26,1945 and Karen 
Dee June 7, 1949.  They were busy raising their family during their school years: PTA, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Community Chest, March of Dimes, Etc.  Their recreation was the weekly picnic with his parents and attending fairs, car shows, flower shows, rabbit shows, etc.  After the children were raised and married, William and Zoe enjoyed traveling, especially going back to Santa Fe yearly.  They retired in 1974 and moved into a Mobile Home Park in Carlsbad, California, then to Hemet, California.  Their hobbies were traveling (they saw a good part of the world), dancing and shuffleboard.  In 1982, they won a trophy in the California State Shuffleboard Tournament.  In 1997, they celebrated 61 years of a wonderful marriage.  Bill died February 19,1998, and Zoe died January 16, 2004.
