    • christened
    • History:  Between 1873 and 1878 an Elizabeth Trenerry was listed as a dressmaker at 5 Francis St, Truro.  After William died or emigrated (1881-1891), Elizabeth Exter is listed in the 1891 census as a dressmaker and head of household.
William sent or brought back two small coffin-shaped lead caskets for the two children Annie & Susan.  Annie's had dark minerals, which Mr. Crout has lost;  Vera's eldest son has Susan's, which has blue minerals.  After William's death, Elizabeth remarried to a Mr. Stevens.  He was a gold miner, working in the South African mines.  He rarely came home to visit.  Annie and he did NOT get along.   Elizabeth lived with Susan in Plymouth, Devon around 1918.  She later moved to Bovey-Trace (near Exeter) with Annie after a serious argument with Susan.  She is buried in the Bovey-Trace graveyard.I have a picture of her and the 2 girls Ann Jane and Susan.

    William John Exter
Born JAN-MAR 1873 in Perranzabuloe, TRURO  5c.153.  In 1881 he and Annie (ages 8 and 5)   were visiting the James of Perranzabuloe (Simeon's future in-laws).  By 1891 (age 17)  he was a shoemaker, still living with his mother and siblings at Baynard's Place, St. Clement, in Truro.  From at least 1895 to 97 he was a bootmaker at the same address, living at 4 Baynard Meadow, Truro.  He married a woman who gave away  his fortune to the church as fast as he could make it, and soon divorced her.  He emigrated poor & single. He lived in Leadville, Colorado and again moved toTexas.  He did remarry in the States.  Rosie Johns of Plymouth (his niece) said she thought he had a ranch there.  He had at least one boy who visited his aunt Annie in Plymouth during the 2nd World War.  Rosie was away in the RAF at the time and missed him.  She would like to get in contact with this cousin, though by now he is probably in his 80's.  Ann Jane did keep in contact with Texas, but the letters are mislaid.  I have a photograph of William.  Rosie's son Dave had an uncanny resemblance to him.
